Insights into The New York Legal Awards 2024 Nomination Process
Haj Media’s Emily Hale tuned into a Q&A webinar to gain insights on the nomination process for the upcoming New York Legal Awards. The session was hosted by ALM Recognition Awards Manager, Pearl Wu and The New York Law Journal Bureau Chief, Andrew Denney. Below are some key takeaways.
- This year, the awards encourage more lawyers licensed in NY from beyond Manhattan to submit entries. It would be exciting to showcase the legal talent across New York State.
- When citing confidential information in your submissions, it’s crucial that it is marked confidential. This is necessary to avoid it mistakenly becoming public. Also, it’s worth noting that completely confidential nominations will not be competitive entries since public transparency is important for the judges to justify the winners.
- This might seem obvious, but register and familiarize yourself with the Award Force platform before the last minute. The entire nomination questionnaire is available on Award Force, and past nominees have encountered challenges by missing questions and scrambling to complete missing questions by the deadline.
New categories:
- The New York Legal Awards introduced the ‘Law Firm of the Year’ category this year. A firm will be selected based on how many categories a firm excels in and the significance of its achievements in those award categories.
- The new Office Managing Partner of the Year award aims to spotlight exceptional leaders from large law firms and those below the ALM 100, emphasizing the “Managing Partner” title.
Wishing everyone luck!
